Officials with the Carmi Chamber of Commerce have announced plans for its annual Lighted Christmas parade which will feature Santa’s arrival to White County. The parade has been set to begin at 5:30 pm on Saturday, November 27.

Instead of having a specific theme for this year’s It’s a White County Christmas, officials have decided to ask participants to be creative in how they show their holiday spirit. Those participating are asked to make sure their entry “lights the way for Santa” at the end of the parade. Santa should not be part of any entry.

Floats and walking units of all sizes are welcome to participate. Entries do not have to be elaborate. Decorated golf carts and four-wheelers (street legal and registered with the City of Carmi) are welcome. Additionally, church choirs walking through caroling and bands are encouraged to participate.

Final details, line up and parade route information will be e-mailed to everyone returning an entryh form. Additional information will also be disseminated through local media outlets.  Parade entry forms should be returned no later than Monday, November 22.

Chamber officials have also announced the return of their annual Christmas decorated storefront contest and the Merry & Bright Christmas light home decorating contest. Entry forms for those events will be accepted through Friday, November 19.

Entry forms and details for all of It’s a White County Christmas contests and events can be found on the Carmi Chamber of Commerce website.  Also, anyone planning to host a public Christmas event is asked to forward the information to the Carmi Chamber of Commerce so it can be publicized.
