Nathan A. Johnson, 29 of James Avenue in Carmi has been jailed in connection with a stabbing last Thursday night.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Aug. 20, White County Sheriff’s Police received a 911 call from a man claiming he had been stabbed in a leg during an altercation at 607 Summit Street in Carmi. When police arrived, they spotted Johnson standing by the road with his girlfriend.
During questioning, Johnson told police that he had been beaten up by two males and that he pulled a knife and stabbed one of them in the leg in self defense. Those involved in the alleged altercation were identified in a police report as Cecil Jackson Mizell, 43 of Summit Street in Carmi and Elizabeth Doneghue, 42 of Summit Street and a 17-year-old male.
