Kimberly S. Rose, 47 of Carmi has been jailed after she allegedly threatened to cut a man's throat during a domestic dispute. Carmi City Police responded to Rose's North Seventh Street home shortly after 8 pm Sunday, March 15 on a report of a domestic situation in progress. When the police dispatcher asked if any weapons were involved in the disturbance, Rose allegedly stated that there were no weapons, “but if officers did not get there, she was going to get a knife and slice the male's throat”.
Rose faces a preliminary charge of domestic battery and was jailed pending the filing of formal charges and setting of bond.
Jara L. Barfield, 37 of Owensville, Indiana faces a number of charges after Carmi City Police investigated a report of shoplifting at the Carmi Wal-Mart. Carmi Police responded to the Carmi Wal-Mart around 8:40 Friday morning, March 13 and located Barfield's yellow Monte Carlo passenger car.
A computer check revealed Barfield was driving on a suspended license. Further investigation resulted in Barfield being arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. She also faces a preliminary charge of unlawful use of property in relation to a alleged meth crime.
City police report recovering a used hypodermic syringe, a pipe with suspected meth residue and a plastic container with suspected meth in Barfield's car. The alleged contraband was recovered from Barfield's purse and a backpack, police said. Barfield was booked into the Carmi-White County jail pending the filing of formal charges and setting of bond.
Robert Anthony Belka, 30 of Smith Street in Carmi has been jailed on multiple charges following a traffic stop Friday morning by Carmi City Police. Police report Belka's vehicle was pulled over on County Road 1450 North around 10:04 Friday morning, March 13. As a result of the traffic stop, Belka was cited for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of property, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, driving on a revoked license, improper use of registration and unlawful display of a registration sticker. A passenger in Belka's car, Tarynn L. Browning, 22 of Smith Street in Carmi was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both were jailed pending the filing of formal charges and setting of bond.
Delbert W. Hobson, 53 of Summit Street in Carmi was arrested Sunday evening, March 15 following a domestic disturbance. Police reports indicate Hobson was taken into custody shortly after 7:30 Sunday evening after police responded to a 911 call. Hobson also faces a charge of possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card.
Timothy Brown, 21 of Carmi, was arrested on March 10 on a warrant for misdemeanor theft. His bond was set at $250
Matthew Lollis was arrested on a White County warrant for violating a stalking no contact order on March 10. His bond was set at $500.
A Civil Complaint was made on March 11. A misdemeanor of illegal possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor was given to 18-year old Chase Edmonds, of Carmi.
On March 11 Crystal Slone, 41 of Carmi, was stopped on Stewart Street and arrested for improper use of registration and driving on a revoked registration. Slone was also charged with unlawful possession of a title without complete assignment, illegal possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and unlawful use of property. She was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
During the course of attempting to locate two children that had wondered away from a residence in Carmi on March 12, it was discovered by Carmi Police that the mother and father of the missing children were wanted. After the children were located and arrangements were made for them to be cared for, the parents were arrested on their outstanding warrants. Benjamin Westphall was taken into custody on a Perry County, Illinois warrant for failure to appear on a charge of driving while his license was revoked. His bond was set at $400. The mother, Bonny Dunn was arrested on a White County warrant for deceptive practice. Dunn's bond was set at $250.
