It was a unanimous decision by the Village of Enfield to prohibit the buying and selling of Cannabis.

Jonathan Turnpin presented the “Village of Enfield, Illinois Prohibition of Cannabis Business Ordinance” at the November 19 meeting, where the entire board voted to accept the ordinance.

Mark Worlds was hired as the part-time officer for the Village of Enfield. Worlds will begin his duties soon and if anyone needs to reach him, they will have to call the County first. 

In new business, the board members made the approval of granting the four full time employees a Christmas bonus of $200.

The Village of Enfield board members will be looking for someone to play Santa for their “Santa Sunday” since their regular Santa will not be able to attend the event this year.

Jim Fecthig informed the board that the Enfield Christian Church will be hosting a “live nativity” on December 7 and 8 from 9:00-4:30 pm on both nights. Traffic will be directed onto North Street and then back up Hosick to view the nativity.

The board purchased and insured a used Ford Ranger extended cab. They also bought a tool box for $50 and will be looking for some headache racks. The members also discussed the roof on the shop had been repaired and the exterior lights had been replaced.

Village Clerk Debbie Stone thanked the employees for the shrub removal on the west side of the office building.

Lastly, a first grade class from Booth Elementary sent a thank you card to the Village of Enfield to thank them for the donation of Halloween candy.

Their next meeting will be in December 17.
