The first of what will likely be many trial dates has been set in the first-degree murder trial of Brodey I. Murbarger. The 24-year-old former Fairfield man faces multiple charges related to the slaying of 15-year-old Megan Nichols of Fairfield.
In Wayne County Circuit Court Tuesday, Oct. 27, Murbarger waived formal arraignment and entered not guilty pleas to all charges against him. A trial date of Feb. 4, 2021 was set with a pretrial hearing scheduled for Nov. 24 of this year.
Murbarger has hired a private attorney to handle his defense. Fairfield attorney Heidie Hoffee initially represented Murbarger as a public defender but has since been replaced by criminal defense attorney Christian J. Baril of Carbondale.
