At the monthly meeting of the Norris City board Monday evening, members heard from Mason and Regina Bryant of Bryant Construction in Harrisburg.  Last month, the firm had submitted the low bid to complete the town’s Phase-3 water line project.  Bryant’s bid was rejected by the town board after the city attorney expressed concerns about Bryant being the subject of litigation in Saline County over a project in Harrisburg.  Instead of accepting Bryant’s low bid, Norris City board members accepted what they deemed the “lowest responsible bid” from Jeff Wiggs Excavating of Benton, Illinois at a cost of $696,037.  Mason and Regina Bryant addressed the board and presented documents in support of their company and their recently submitted bid.  The issue was referred to the town’s attorney who will take the matter under advisement. No action was taken.

The board approved a bid from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois for employee health insurance. The current plan expires June 1.
