Following an executive session Monday night, members of the Norris City Board approved a one payment of Covid hazard pay for every municipal employee.  Full time employees will receive a one time payment of $1,200 with part time workers' pay being pro-rated.  The premium pay became available through federal funds received as part of Covid relief. 

Mayor Skip Land informed board members that Norris City is one of the only communities in the state in which police officers purchase their own duty weapon.  Mayor Land gained board approval Monday night to purchase six firearms and related equipment for an estimated $4,000.  With every officer carrying the same model of firearm, magazines and ammo will be completely interchangeable, Land said.  The purchase of new firearms also clears up any liability issues related to officers carrying their privately owned guns.  Mayor Land added the guns can be purchased using Covid relief funds.
