The Ford Bronco headlight, manufactured by North American Lighting (NAL) in Flora made it into the final 16 as one of the “Coolest Things Made in Illinois.” Elastec’s Drum Skimmer, manufactured in Carmi failed to make it into the “Sweet 16.” That leaves NAL as the only southern Illinois entry left in the Illinois Manufacturer’s Association sponsored competition. A winner will be announced March 24 during the Maker’s Madness luncheon in Springfield.

Other southern Illinois entries that failed to make the cut were Dinger Bats of Ridgway, John Boos Cutting Boards made in Effingham, Country Bob’s Steak Sauce made in Centralia, Marathon fuels refined in Robinson, Prairie Farms ice cream made in Olney and Shutts Sports and a manufacturer of football helmets manufactured in Salem.
