State Representative Adam Niemerg met with Campbell Energy, LLC in Carmi last week to discuss issues surrounding the southern Illinois oil and gas industry.

Niemerg met with Jake Campbell, President of Campbell Energy and Senior Petroleum Geologist Ross Basnett. The three discussed the energy market and what regulations have done to stifle productivity in the oil and gas sector. Campbell Energy employs over 125 people with expertise in geology, engineering, finance, legal, land leasing, field operations and well services.

“The mission at Campbell Energy is to deliver outstanding operating and financial results by building a portfolio of oil properties utilizing a ‘pure play’ growth-oriented strategy,” said Jake Campbell. “We accomplish this by building an environment of efficiency, stewardship, ethics and performance.”

“I am impressed with Campbell Energy’s ethics priority to run their business based on the ‘Golden Rule’ and treat their personnel, partners, investors and even their competitors the way they want to be treated,” Niemerg said.

The Illinois Oil Basin includes portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, an area that has produced over a billion barrels of oil since 1905. The basin is comprised of predominantly conventional reserves of oil and some natural gas.
