A second utility scale solar farm is in the planning stages for White County.

Chicago-based Invenergy has plans to construct a massive solar farm near Centerville. At the last meeting of the White County Board, members were told land leasing activity is underway in the area with construction not likely until 2023.

According to the firm's website, Invenergy has developed 165 projects, totaling over 25,200 megawatts of power. The firm has developed projects in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe.

Meanwhile, New York based Ranger Power is moving closer to starting construction of a utility scale solar farm south of Norris City near the village of Sacramento. The project is expected to encompass about 3,000 acres with a construction cost at $153 million. When online, the solar array will produce 149 megawatts of power.
