• Three suspects who allegedly tried to break into a bank in Mount Vernon, Illinois were arrested in White County in the early morning hours last Friday, June 7.  Sheriff Doug Maier said he was notified of a pickup truck that had been stolen out of Wayne County had been tracked by GPS monitoring to an area near Centerville in northern White County.  Three individuals in the 2016 GMC pickup truck had allegedly tried to burglarize a bank in Mt. Vernon earlier in the day and had been involved in a police pursuit in Mt. Vernon.
  • Sheriff Maier and one of his deputies located the truck around 4:50 am last Friday on a dead end road at the end of County Road 1200 E., just south of County Road 1925 N.  With weapons drawn, police took all three individuals into custody.  The driver was identified only as a juvenile. He told police the truck belonged to his uncle and the three were “just road tripping”.  He also stated that he was on parole.  A check with the Illinois Department of Corrections confirmed the juvenile was wanted on an active warrant.  All three suspects were taken to the White County jail.  Officials with the Mount Vernon Police Department were notified of the arrest so a detective could investigate the incident further.  Officials with the Illinois Department of Corrections took possession of the juvenile and placed him back into custody.
  • Adam Scott Brown, 31 of Grayville has been arrested on warrants out of White and Edwards Counties.  Police went to 1107 Superior Street in Crossville to serve warrants on Brown but did not immediately find him.  After gaining permission to search the property, police say they found Brown hiding behind a bed. He was taken into custody without further incident. Brown was wanted on a White County petition to revoke his probation on a conviction of being in possession of methamphetamine which carried a $500 bond.  The Edwards County warrant was for a misdemeanor charge of resisting a police officer with a bond of $150 cash. 
  • On Sunday, June 9, White County Sheriff's Police arrested Chance M. Grein, 21 on a charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.  A deputy spotted Grein driving a 3-wheeler on Morrell Street near Second Street in Crossville and knew the driver had a revoked license.  Grein was booked pending the posting of $150 cash bond.
  • Adam A. Hoover, 32 of Carmi has been arrested in Bixby, Oklahoma on a Wayne County warrant charging him with forgery.  County Sheriff Doug Maier reports taking custody of Hoover from the Tulsa County, Oklahoma Correctional facility in Tulsa Oklahoma.  He is now being held in the Carmi-White County jail under $5,000 cash bond pending a preliminary hearing on July 2.
  • Devin Ray Ward, 29 of Crossville was arrested on Monday, June 10 on a charge of domestic battery.   Ward is accused of battering his mother, Stacy L. Ward, 56 of Crossville.  He allegedly struck Ms. Ward on the left side of her face with his open hand.   Devin Ward was taken to the Carmi-White County jail where he was booked on a charge of domestic battery pending the posting of $500 cash bond.
