An Enfield man was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections on the morning of September 18. James E. Steele, 28, was charged with: Possession of Stolen Vehicle, a class 2 felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, a class 3 felony; and Violation of Order of Protection, a class A misdemeanor. Steele will serve 8 years, 2 months and 26 days behind bars, with an additional 3 years of mandatory supervised release.

Steele was on First Offender Probation for the methamphetamine offense when he committed the Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Violation of Order of Protection cases. Consequently, his probation was revoked when he was sentenced on September 18. The court recommended that Steele participate in the Impact Incarceration Program. Steele was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle, with Judge T. Scott Webb presiding and the investigation was led by the White County Sheriff’s Department.
