Volunteers are needed to help take down the Carmi Christmas Lights of Hope display at the White County Fairgrounds.

Carmi's “Christmas Elves” are looking for volunteers to help with the project on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9 and 10. Organizers say the work detail will begin at 9 a.m. on each of those days. If you would like to volunteer, you are asked to report to the Floral Hall to begin the task of taking down the lighted displays.

Last week, officials reported the annual event had met its stated fundraising goal of $30,000. Single donations of $1,000 and $750 helped the group reach its goal. The bulk of the funds came from families that drove through the display, paying the suggested $5 donation.

Money raised during the 2020 event will be used to help those in need during the Christmas season of 2021.
