Six new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Wabash County. Officials with the Wabash County Health Department announced Friday, June 5 that the patients were tested as outpatients and are now self quarantined.
Health Department officials say that the patients are being monitored daily with their condition being tracked by Wabash General Hospital, the local health department and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The six new cases brings to 12 the number of cases confirmed in Wabash County.
The Wabash County Health Department is now offering COVID-19 Antibody Testing. The test costs $35 and requires an appointment. Health department officials warn that it is not known yet if having the COVID-19 antibodies provides immunity to the virus. Additionally, the test does not identify a current active infection of the virus. A further warning states that you could potentially have a false positive if you have been exposed to other Coronavirus and if you test too soon after having symptoms, your body might not have produced enough antibodies for a positive test result.
