The White County Farm Bureau is partnering with the American Red Cross for its fourth annual “People Live When People Give” blood drive. The event has been set for Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The drive will be held from 1–5 p.m. At the White County Farm Bureau building located at 304 East Robinson Street in Carmi. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment online at or by downloading the Red Cross app from your cell phone's app store.

Additional safety precautions will be implemented at the drive, including temperature screenings before entering the room, hand sanitizer, enhanced disinfecting of surfaces between donors, masks, social distancing and staff wellness. Additionally, all donors will receive a free COVID-19 antibody test as part of their donation.

Farm Bureau manager Doug Anderson is encouraging folks to participate as literally thousands of blood drives have been canceled around the country this year due to the pandemic.

“Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more,” Anderson said. “It's not every day that we do something that has such a lifesaving impact.

“Save a life and make your appointment today.”
