Members of the White County board held two special meetings concerning bids from three different insurance companies.
At the first special meeting, the members of the board heard offers from First Insurance, Shepard Insurance and Snedeker Insurance. With some discussion, the board agreed to table it and scheduled another special meeting before Thanksgiving.
On November 26, the White County board met again and made a final decision on what insurance company would be best for county employees. The insurance company would need to cover: General Liability, Workman’s Comp, Inland Marine, Umbrella, Law Enforcement Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Professional Employment Management Liability and Auto Liability.
“I don’t like to be put in this position, but I am in this position,” stated Chairman Don Puckett. With that, Puckett made the tie-breaking decision to choose Snedeker Insurance.
Puckett moved on with the board approving the appointment of Patrick Scates as the new EMA Director to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of James Totten.
The board also appointed Terry Daubs as Commissioner to the White County Housing Authority Board for a five-year term to replace Joe Bisch.
The members went into an executive session, followed by adjourning the meeting. The White County board will meet again on December 10 at 7 p.m.
