Karen S. Farmer, 75, of Greeley, CO

Karen S. Farmer, age 75, passed away on July 8, 2021. She was born on March 24, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana to Norbert and Dorece Barbre. Karen is survived by her husband David Shelton, her sons and their spouses, Chris and Becky Farmer, and Jeremy and Karan Marie Farmer; her grandchildren Madison Farmer, Jacob Farmer, Aby Farmer, Zoey Farmer, and Pyper Farmer.

Karen was an enthusiastic traveler and enjoyed ocean cruising and visiting Florida beaches where her parents vacationed when she was a young girl. She earned a bachelors and master’s degree in teaching from the University of Northern Colorado. Her career consisted of entrepreneurship, owning, and operating a few different types of retail stores, classroom teaching and finishing her career with the Colorado Department of Corrections. Karen volunteered her time in many ways assisting juveniles navigate medical and legal difficulties, spending time with the Assistance League in Greeley, Colorado and participating in activities with DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and NSCDA (The National Society of Colonial Dames). Karen and David enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s sporting events in Colorado and visiting their grandchildren in Pittsburgh. One of her last events before passing included watching Aby and Zoey take their first indoor skydiving lesson. She loved the Colorado mountains.

Visitation is Thursday, July 15th from 4-6pm at Adamson Life Celebration Home 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, CO 80634. Services will be Friday, July 16th at 11am Adamson Life Celebration Home followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
