The Norris CIty-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinal cross country teams took part in a 2.5 mile meet at Galatia Tuesday afternoon against fellow Greater Egyptian Conference rivals in Gallatin County, Galatia, Pope County and Thompsonville.
At the meets conclusion, five Fighting Cardinal runners would be claiming hardware for finishing in the top 10.
Will Thompson would keep his dominance alive as he would claim first place overall in the meet with a time of 14:45. Joe Melton would cross the line next for NCOE in fourth place with a time of 15:22 followed by Preston Long in sixth place at 15:35, Jake Rush ninth place in 16:08 and Ty Money in tenth place at 16:11.
These five runners would all collect an individual medal for the Fighting Cardinals en route to leading them to a first place team finish with a score of 30. Others running in the race for NCOE would be Braden Mendoza who would finish just shy of medal contention in 11th place at 16:25, while Joel Hortin would claim 15th place in 17:30 and Cole Roser eighteenth place at 19:23.
Pope County would finish the day in second place with 49 points followed by Thompsonville in third with 85 points. Galatia and Gallatin County did not have enough participants to record a team score.
The Lady Cardinals would also participate in this meet and Hailei Yager would lead the way for NCOE as she claimed a medal by finishing in fifth place at 19:34 followed by Zeppelyn Fiala in sixth place at 20:13 and Amanda Bradley in eleventh place at 22:24.
The next meet for NCOE will be at Gallatin County on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
