In their lone game of the week, the NCOE Junior High basketball team stepped out of conference play and ventured to McLeansboro to take on the Hamilton County Junior Foxes. Defense was the key in the first quarter of play as scoring was limited bringing the game to a four all tie when the buzzer sounded.  The second quarter would witness an offensive explosion by the Junior Foxes as they went on a 21-4 run to claim the 25-8 advantage at halftime. Following intermission it was apparent that the Junior Cardinals made some adjustments of their own as they clawed back into the game following a nice 11-6 run of their own.  This narrowed the Hamilton County lead to just 12 points heading into the final frame of action.  This fourth quarter would be very balanced with both teams trading baskets but as the final buzzer sounded the Junior Cardinals would find themselves on the wrong end of a 50-36 final score. Lotlane Baker would lead the NCOE offense with 18 points followed by Spencer Shipp with 11 points.  Others scoring in the contest were Nolan Prather three points, Bryer Sauls two points and Dayton Tharp two points. Shipp would dish out a team high two assists followed by one each from Baker and Zeke Baumgart. Rebounding was controlled by Spencer Shipp as he ripped down a team high eight boards followed by Dayton Tharp with six, Zeke Baumgart five, and one a piece for Bryer Sauls, Lotlane Baker, and Dalton Hosman.  Baker and Baumgart with each credited with two steals while Shipp, Tharp, and Sauls each added one. The junior varsity contest started out with the same defensive intensity as the varsity game but this game would witness NCOE claiming the 4-3 lead following the first quarter of play.  Second quarter action would find Hamilton County picking up the pace on the offensive end as they outscored the Jr. Cards 9-5 to claim the 12-9 halftime advantage. Second half action would find the NCOE offense going stagnant as they were only able to muster two more points the remainder of the way as they fell to the Junior Foxes by the final score of 41-11. Scoring was led by Bryer Sauls as he pitched in five points followed by two points a piece from Javan Garrett, Caden Sexton, and Conner Graves. Sexton had the lone assist in the game. Both Bryer Sauls and Caden Sexton claimed rebounding honors as each had five followed by Owen Russell with four, Javan Garrett two, Jaxen Simmons one, and Conner Graves one.  Sexton was credited with three steals while Garrett and Kamden Myatt added two along with one a piece from Wyatt Wells, Graves, Russell, and Garrett.
