Cindy Colman’s Lady Bulldog softball team continues to play extremely well, especially in tournament formats, as CWC went 2-1 at the Johnston City tournament on Saturday, August 31.

So far this season, Colman’s squad is 10-2 in tournament games.

Marion 5, CWC 0

The bats were silent in the tourney opener for CWC, as Marion held the Lady Bullpups to just four hits during the six-inning contest.

Marion put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the second inning, manufacturing three hits in a row to push across four runs to take a 4-0 lead and never looked back.

Kadee Simmons took the loss in the circle, surrendering eight hits while striking out seven.

CWC 6, Johnston City 2

The Lady Bulldogs rebounded in their second game by pounding out ten hits, led by a home run and a double recorded by Audrey Upton.

CWC jumped out to a 4-0 advantage through two innings. Johnston City was able to push a tally across home plate in the top of the third and fifth innings, but the maroon and white answered in their at-bats in the same innings.

In addition to Upton, Zoie Hull (two RBIs) and Lily Ballard had two hits each to lead CWC at the plate.

Upton also picked up the win, striking out four and surrendering four hits in the five-inning contest.

CWC 15, Eldorado 2

CWC (13-2) carried their hot hitting into their final game of the day, recording 17 hits against the Jr. Lady Eagles.

Mia Evans had a game offensively, going 4-for-4 and scoring four runs in the leadoff spot. Upton added three hits, while two hits were produced by Paige Jackson, Alayna Johnson, and Caroline Simmons.

Upton was the winning pitcher of record. The eighth grader gave up one hit while striking out seven in four innings of work.
