Lady Bullpups looking for success in 2019

HERE WE GO. Carmi-White County Junior High School softball head coach Cindy Colman (fourth from left) talks to her team after practice on Tuesday, July 31, at Archie Brown Memorial Field.

The Carmi-White County Lady Bullpup softball team looks to continue recent success as the 2019 season is right around the corner.

Entering her third year as the head coach, Cindy Colman has been pleased with what she has seen early on.

“We have lots of talent,” said Colman. “We have seven pitchers on the roster, big bats, and plenty of speed…luxuries we have not had in the past few years.”

Colman has a balanced roster of sixth thru eighth graders. She said there is plenty of competition for playing time, regardless of their grade level.

“It is obvious from watching practice that the girls have put in plenty of work in the off season,” commented Colman. “It will be neat to watch the battles for playing time and positions as we get closer to our first game.”

Colman has a stout schedule in 2019 (which includes Flora, Hamilton County, and Massac County) which should give CWC good benchmarks as they prepare for a solid run in the regional.

The Lady Bullpups open the season August 16 on the road at Harrisburg.
