The NCOE Junior High Lady Cardinal softball team kicked off SIJHSAA Class M Regional Tournament play Tuesday afternoon when they welcomed the Wayne City Lady Braves to town for first round action of tournament play.

The Lady Cardinals wasted little time in taking control of this game as they pushed six runs across the plate in the first inning to claim the 6-0 lead. NCOE would add two more runs to this total in the bottom of the third inning to extend their lead to eight runs.

Wayne City would manage to cut into the lead when they scored their first run of the contest in the top of the fourth inning, but the Lady Cardinals would end all threats as they pushed two runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning and one more in the fifth to secure the 11-1 victory and a trip to the championship game.

Hits were scarce for the Lady Cardinals due to some errant pitching by the Lady Braves with Trinity Boyd, Madeline Fulkerson and Cora Humphrey each collecting one hit in the game. Madeline Fulkerson led the way with four RBI's followed by one each from Trinity Boyd, Mattie McArthy and Hayden Knight. Those scoring runs for the Lady Cardinals were Trinity Boyd (2), Mattie McArthy (2), Hayden Knight (2), Aubrey Knight (2), Sydnee Sauls (1), Mallory Hobbs (1) and Cora Humphrey (1).

Sydnee Sauls took matters into her own hands Tuesday afternoon when she pitched five no hit innings allowing one unearned run and striking out 14.
