The Bulldogs varsity volleyball team has had a great two weeks, after winning 2 last week, the girls showed up confidence ready to play. The girls played the #1 ranked Fairfield Lady Mulesearly in the week, the Mules won the 1st set, but CWC came back strong to force another set in the game, but unfortunately losing the 3rd set. Although they couldn’t pull out a win, they are the only team so far who has taken the Lady Mules into 3 sets. On Thursday the girls squared up against the Johnston City Indians and beat them with ease in 2 sets. At the end of this week the Carmi Lady Bulldogs were ranked #12 in the state. Senior Karson Kays said, “We all have a really good connection and bond on and off the court. We are all just really good friends and click really well. Jessica Smith was actually quarantined for the Johnston City game so I’d say what helped us beat them was our back row. They were digging like crazy, and would not let balls hit the floor. In the Fairfield game by the third set we were just gassed. We worked so hard the first and second set that by the third set we were drained.” The Lady Bulldogs will hit the court again on Tuesday March 30th against the Hamilton County Lady Foxes at the McDougal-Evers gymnasium at 6:15. On Wednesday March 31, CWC will verse the NCOE Lady Cardinals at home at 6:15, and then again on Thursday April 1, at Edwards County at 6:15. Keep up the hard work girls.
